of Health, Description: 26 p. chronic diseases and other health conditions between Native Hawaiians and the State for age-adjusted data from the Hawai‘i Health Survey in Three chronic diseases will be discussed: asthma, cardiovascular (heart) disease, and diabetes.

Hypertension. The Chronic Disease Prevention & Health Promotion Division (CDPHPD), also known as the Tobacco Settlement Project strives to promote wellness and improve the quality and years of life for Hawaii’s people through effective prevention, detection and management of chronic diseases.

These conditions are responsible for a great deal of illness, disability, and decreased quality of life for millions of Americans.

Chronic diseases account for more than 75% of medical care costs in the U.S., and a majority of all deaths each year in the state and nation.
